Relative Scale designed two interactive experiences for the WWII Home Front Museum on St. Simons Island, GA. The exhibit highlights the contributions of Naval Air Station Glynco and the Brunswick community to the war effort.
Visitors participate in a collaborative experience assuming the roles of crew members of an airship and can hear oral histories from the citizens of Glynn County in a second interactive.
Piloting an Airship Interactive
The airships experience begins with an intro video teaching the history of WWII in Brunswick using archival footage and introduces visitors to the anatomy of the airship through custom 3D animation. Then, they are prompted to assume their roles around the table. Visitors work together to patrol for U-boats with the opportunity to drop a depth charge during the mission. An outro video, made to resemble a pilot’s table and viewable from the three sides with crew members, plays upon mission completion and highlights that of the 80,000 ships escorted by airships in WWII, not a single one was lost a U-boat attack.
With five unique crew roles in the airships table, STEM animations to unlock, and tailored mission reports, this interactive offers a new experience for visitors each time.
